Let's go Red Sox!

I've only been a Red Sox fan for the past 22 years, so I can only begin to imagine the joy of someone older who has rooted for this team their entire life. However, the joy I felt as Edgar Renteria topped a ground ball to Keith Foulke was easily the biggest explosion of emotion I've ever felt over a sporting event.

The Bucs Super Bowl, the Lightning's Stanley Cup, winning a city wide soccer tournament with two goals in the championship game, breaking up a no hitter in high school, attending Hideo Nomo's no hitter in Baltimore, attending Super Bowl XXVIII, attending World Series Game 1 in 1998... all of these pale in comparison to the sheer elation I felt knowing my Boston Red Sox, the team I'd grown up cheering as if my life depended on it, had finally won a World Series.

I will be forever grateful to John Henry, Larry Lucchino, Theo Epstein, Terry Francona, and every guy who appeared in a Red Sox uniform this season...

He's forgiven. I even forgave my boss who when he walked into my cubicle last Thursday and noticed the 3' x 4' World Series Champions banner with it's big Red Sox logo I had produced on the company's plotter and said, "If I brought in my 26 banners there wouldn't be enough room on these walls."

Well one down, 25 to go. Let's just hope it doesn't take until 2090 to get number 2.
